A Complaint about CDG Training where a participant had been made to sit around doing nothing all day and first day tests of questions such as “20p + 5p”, restrictions of going to the toilet and restrictions on what to wear. Also criticism on the cost of New Deal course attendance with the budget allocated to participants. Complaint:

Hello there i thought id write to you as i dont feel like i have any where else to write about this too, The new deal course is the biggest farce i have ever seen in my life, I have basically been bullied into going there by the jobcenter, The first thing i got told when i got there was i have a choice whether to be there or not.. I choice i said? what is the choice getting my money stopped and having to live on the streets or be forced to go to a 10 week couse 9-4 every day of the week for only 15 extra pounds every 2 weeks of which they take 4!

I could barely afford to live as it is let alone now with the added costs of lunch and bus fare i now have to incur all they are giving me is 11 pounds extra to get my lunch with thats £5.50 a week to buy my lunch everyday with!, And for what? For me to sit in a room all day with half the people there being yobs and  criminals bragging about there convictions and disrupting everything and what do i get out of it? nothing?! half the people i saw there on my first week werent doing anything i saw people jus sat around desks playing computer games and listening to music,

Every person i spoke too told me that you dont do anything there, All they do is help you improve your cv in the first week and then after that its 9 weeks of doing nothing, Its abosolutley degrading the first day i got there i was being given tests with questions like what is 20p + 5p, Questions that would be fit for a 5 year old let alone a 23 year old man, I was told what to wear i was told when i was allowed to go the toilet it was just like being back in school , And the guy telling me this was about the same age as me! someone my own age telling me when i can go to the toilet? what a joke! They also gave me another option to go and work for a company for free? now i dont know if its just me but i am not going to let a company make money off my free labour while i can barely afford to live!

I would also like to point out to you that the jobcenter want people in dead end jobs, I am going to college in september and the job center have advised me not to do this and to go and get a dead end job instead, The same thing applies to a few of my friends who also have gone to college to better themselves and get decent careers, The job center have said that going to college affects your chances of gettin a job while your there and you should quit and get a full time job instead,

Anyway i would really like to hear a response but if not then i guess your too busy i hope you read this anyway to get an idea what it is like for someone like me being forced to go to these courses and being degraded by the jobcenter over and over,
